Materials and terminology
Baroque describes a pearl's irregular, asymmetrical shape. It does not describe where the pearl formed, and it does not by itself indicate whether the pearl is natural or cultured. Natural pearls form without human intervention and are rare; cultured pearls form after human intervention and are still real pearls. Natural variation
